A conference presented by the IBA Section on Insolvency, Restructuring and Creditors’ Right (SIRC) and supported by the IBA European Regional Forum.
After the “Crash of the Titans” and the credit crunch it caused, restructuring/insolvency specialists (and courts) worldwide face the tremendous task to resolve the problems of the world economy caused by the overall recession experienced in 2009. Although there is expected to be economic growth again starting in 2010 in most countries, inevitably the restructuring/insolvency community will still be extremely busy for years to come. This is due to the severe impacts of the 2008/2009 recession to many industries, such as the automotive and the machinery sector. In-court and out-of-court restructuring will be the only solution to prevent the businesses in trouble from collapsing.

There are different approaches in the various jurisdictions to achieve this goal and in many countries the legislation concerned is under permanent review in order to reach improvements.

This conference will be a forum to explore the different ways of saving businesses in trouble and will enhance each participant’s knowledge not only in cross-border cases but also in combining in- and out-of-court restructuring tools and methods for the sake of all stakeholders.

Who should attend?
Lawyers, judges, regulators, financial advisers, investors, crisis managers and opinion leaders should not miss this important conference.

The IBA has reserved a limited number of guestrooms for the nights of the 16 -18 May inclusive at the Fairmont Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten. The rates quoted in the conference brochure only apply if booked by the 19th March, via the official accommodation agent, Judy Lane Consulting (JLC). Due to a large trade show taking place at the same time as our conference we strongly recommend you book your accommodation early.
